Jo Huddleston

Jo Huddleston – Author of Sweet Southern Romance

Jo Huddleston writes sweet Southern romances set in the 1950s, where you can escape into wholesome, faith-based love stories of deep commitment, hope, and happily-ever-after endings. Readers describe Jo as a wonderful storyteller whose books are sure to inspire and entertain you. Reviewers say her books should be Hallmark movies.

She likes to laugh with people, but not at people. The beach is her favorite vacation spot. She’s a spectator fan of several sports, with tennis being her favorite. She doesn’t enjoy being in the dark and is fearful of snakes!

Jo holds a BA degree with honors from Lincoln Memorial University (TN), where she is a member of their Literary Hall of Fame. She earned the MEd degree from Mississippi State University.

About Me

Jo Huddleston is a multi-published author who writes novels inspired by her fascination with the 1950s and her love of her native American South.
Her publishing journey began in the 1990s, as she wrote prayers for circumstances she saw others facing, as well as for herself. Jo attended her first writers conference in 1993, and took five of those prayers with her. She met with an editor from Tyndale House Publishers who took those prayers back to Tyndale and they offered Jo a contract to write two prayer books. The two books came out in 1995: Amen and Good Morning, God: A Book of Morning Prayers and Amen and Good Night, God: A Book of Evening Prayers.

Jo’s writing career includes more than 200 articles and short stories, which have appeared in over 50 well-known Christian and secular publications, including Guideposts and Decision. I am an online contributor to Christian Devotions Ministries (www.ChristianDevotions.us).

Her devotions appear in eight anthologies, and she wrote devotions on assignment and freelance for the following daily devotionals: Devotions, Open Windows, Pathways to God, The Quiet Hour, The Secret Place, and The Upper Room.

In 2012, Jo’s first sweet Southern novel was published.

Jo’s life has spanned a variety of work. She was a secretary at the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission’s Y-12 plant in Oak Ridge, Tennessee; a high school teacher and guidance counselor; a state political campaign secretary; a two-time small-business owner; and a real estate agent.

Her 5 all-time favorite novels are: The Familiar Stranger by Christina Berry, Gone With The Wind by Margaret Mitchell, Hearts That Survive by Yvonne Lehman, Rooms by James L. Rubart, and Same Sweet Girls by Cassandra King.

A Few of the Reader reviews from Jo’s latest novel, Loving Sarah:

“Jo Huddleston has written another delightful story. A love triangle filled with surprises. Grab your favorite drink, a box of Kleenex, and prepare to spend the day reading because you won’t be able to stop once you start.” 5 stars

“Jo Huddleston has crafted a sweet story in Loving Sarah! Loving Sarah sweeps Readers away to The Great Smoky Mountains in the 1950s. Even though Loving Sarah is not necessarily marketed as Christian Fiction, I consider it to be due to the conversations and prayers of the characters that were in the book. I loved how emotions were explored in the book because it helped to illustrate how emotions can change on a dime and cannot always be trusted. I thought that Ms. Huddleston realistically portrayed Sarah questioning God and life in general.” 4 stars

“Loving Sarah is a wonderful novel…lots of twists and turns that you may see coming, but you still have to read!” 5 stars

“I couldn’t tear myself away. The intrigue and uncertainty were stirring, and the easy-going feel was palpable. You can’t help but be charmed by the characters in this world. This is a fun one that you definitely do not want to miss. I enjoyed this unique premise and honestly don’t remember reading a book quite like this.” 5 stars
“The story has a lot of twists that kept me very interested in reading until I finished 3 hours later. I really enjoyed Sarah and Robert’s love triangle storyline. I HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Small Town Romance. GREAT BOOK!” 5 stars
Loving Sarah was such an emotional book, but so good! There is plenty of tension and a twist that captured my attention right away, and I couldn’t put it down. The story is enduring and uplifting. The characters had plenty of layers, and the story had non-stop action, forgiveness, and love. The ending wrapped up everything nicely, with a happily-ever-after that I loved.” 5 stars

“I enjoyed the setting of Loving Sarah, with its 1950’s setting and small town charm. I thought that this story had a lot going on as Sarah figures out what she wants in life. The story was sweet with some surprising twists, making it an enjoyable read! This is the first book I have read by Jo Huddleston, but it won’t be the last! I loved her writing style and the retro setting.” 5 stars
