At age ten, Michael rewrote Little Red Riding Hood on the fly. That early story sparked a lifelong love of writing. During his freshman year at Muncie Southside High School, he entertained classmates by turning grammar assignments into strange and humorous sentences that often landed on the classroom chalkboard.
As a young husband, Michael discovered a love for reading after picking up Twilight Eyes by Dean Koontz at a grocery store. Since then, he has enjoyed works by Steinbeck, Tolkien, Hemingway, Koontz, King, Baldacci, and Grisham. He especially enjoys history, spiritual growth, action-adventure, and stories with a dark edge.
Michael lives in Indianapolis with his wife of more than thirty years. He has two grown daughters that make him continually proud. He enjoys reading, podcasting, and taking adventurous vacations. His personal ministry is focused on learning how to better love God and his neighbor. 
Michael turned his imagination into stories by writing short fiction before completing his debut novel, Abandon Hope. His favorite short stories include Davy’s Gift and Out of the Depths of Abandon, both set in the fictional town of Cutters Notch, Indiana.
Above all, Michael strives to live by the advice his father gave him as a toddler: “Mike, the most important thing you can do in your life is please God.”
