Melissa Detto

Melissa Detto is a romance author who discovered her passion for storytelling at an early age when she used to write plays she and her brother would act out. In her years as a ghostwriter, she created romance novels with touches of mystery and suspense. She has also written nonfiction articles and contributed short stories to Montefino Magazine.

Melissa lives in Central Florida, and her stories are influenced by feel-good films, Hallmark-style romance, and the atmospheric beauty of Savannah. She also has a deep love for history and enjoyed visiting Savannah and touring its haunted, historic homes. Melissa writes romance because she believes in hope and happy endings. Storytelling continues to be one of her favorite ways to use her creativity.

Writing has always been part of Melissa’s life. Over the years, she has used her creativity to write songs, poems, plays, and children’s stories. Her tastes as a reader range from historical fiction and romance to horror and thrillers, and that variety has shaped the way she approaches storytelling.

Her publishing journey began with nonfiction articles and magazine pieces before expanding into years of ghostwriting romance. Ghostwriting taught her how to build characters from the inside out and how to craft honest emotions.

She has also written a historical fiction novel inspired by her long-standing fascination with medieval history and the people who shaped it, especially Eleanor of Aquitaine, her favorite queen. Although the novel isn’t published yet, she is proud of the research and the story.

Savannah inspired her romances. When she visited the city, its history, beauty, and haunted homes left a lasting impression, and it naturally became the backdrop for her stories.

She writes romances because she believes in love. In difficult times, love stories can offer comfort and light. She truly hopes her books can bring a happy escape to readers.

Outside of writing, one of her greatest passions is singing, which has inspired her to write her own songs. She and her husband often make music together. She sings, and he plays guitar. When she’s not creating, she’s usually reading or making another run to the library for more books.
